agonizer
Device used to enforce discipline in Starfleet. All crewmembers are required to wear an agonizer while on duty. (Note: Agonizers are not generally worn with the combat uniform, although the commanding officer may specify otherwise.)
When activated, the agonizer stimulates the nervous system, causing intense pain without lasting damage. (Side effects of long applications include twitching and ghost pains.) Once, these devices were palm-sized and worn on the belt; improvements in technology have miniaturized them, and they now take the form of a Starfleet badge worn on the left breast.
[Mirror Note: The agonizer takes the place of the commbadge on the 'standard' uniform. There are no commbadges in the Mirror Universe -- it would be too easy to track down someone you meant to assassinate! When an Away Team is deployed, they carry wrist communicators evolved from the form seen in the 'standard' 2270s (ST: TMP).]

Agony Booth
Punishment device developed in 2155, used as a discipline measure for serious offenses and for interrogations. The Booth calibrates pain depending on the species and health of the subject, and adjusts the stimulation as various nerves are overloaded. The Booth is thereby capable of delivering effectively endless pain to a subject. Modern versions of the device are capable of delivering precisely targetted pain, either as an automated function based on bioscans or under the manual control of the security officer.

JoNs in exchange. He received far more than he bargained for, however, as the team sent to negotiate with him recovered the vaccine with extreme prejudice.
